...Encourages Beneficiaries to Effectively Use Opportunity
Delta State Chairman of the Phase 2 Ex-agitators and Member Delta State Waterways and Land Security Committee, Gen Solomon Adu has hailed the Presidential Amnesty Programme Boss, Col. Milland Dixon Dikio (Rtd) over the deployment of 400 Ex-agitators across the Niger Delta to farms.
Adu made this commendation after the completion of four-day course in two batches at the Nigeria Navy College of Engineering in Sapele, Delta state and their former deployment to various farms across the Niger Delta region during the last weekend.
As the aim of the programme is to ensure extensive manpower training on modern agricultural strategies and practice for effective performance in food production and sufficiency in the area and the country, accorded it as a welcome development.
According to Dikio, “Our mission here is to create entrepreneurs or people who are employable. You must have an eye for what is possible. An entrepreneur does not look at problems, he looks and thinks solutions to the problems.
Also that, “I have gone round most of the farms in the Niger Delta, most of them cannot meet up to 20 per cent of the market share, that is the demand.
“That is why food prices are going up. Now if you have a population that is going up, it means that there are more mouths to feed; so if you’re into farming you can never be broke.
“Somebody who wants to progress must be ready to learn. Another reason why we are sending you to be trained in farming is for the purpose of food security.”
So, Adu Solomon encourages all beneficiaries of the training and deployment to effectively use the opportunity to acquire and enhance their skills on agricultural strategies and practice to fit enough for further opportunities.
